Public answer

Question people actually type: What happens if I cancel? What happens to my files?

You can cancel any time by email. It takes effect at the end of the current month, with no cancellation fee.

When the service ends, here's what happens.

Your files stay with you. Every deposit is a plain Markdown file on your own drive. They were never only a cloud copy, so nothing needs to be exported or handed back. Your vault is yours, today and after you leave.

We take your room offline and delete our hosted copy. Within 7 days, we delete the copy of your content that your online room answered from, except for anything the law requires us to keep.

Your license ends. You'll uninstall the Compa app and its configuration, since the software is licensed rather than sold. Your content, of course, stays.

Your xAI account stays yours. If you were on the own-key plan, your xAI account and API key belong to you. You can keep using them elsewhere, or revoke the key and close the account. xAI's own retention policy applies to recent requests on its side.

A few practical notes.

Back up first. Your vault is already on your drive, but it's good practice to copy the folder somewhere safe before you uninstall anything.

Shared links stop working. Once your room is offline, links to threads and invitations won't open. If you want people to keep anything, tell them before your last day.

Published pages fade from search over time. In public mode, search engines and AI assistants may have read your published deposits while the room was live. When the room goes offline, those pages may never disappear from the web, but classic search engines eventually drop them.

Coming back is easy. Because your files are still yours, reopening a room later starts from where you left off.

We'd rather you leave on good terms than stay out of obligation. If something isn't working, tell us first; often it's a fix, not a farewell.
