What Daniel Comp's 2018 Video Teaches Asxer Owners About Staying the Course
About Staying the Course
On 2018-05-04, Daniel Comp published "360MEN MUGSHOTS and COFFEE - Dean Rush - Hawaiian R&R" on YouTube. GB places it in Mission 1, The Long Witness, one of five missions in the whole-library reading What 13 Years of Video Says to SI.
What the video shows
Dean Rush tells the story of his Hawaiian R&R from Vietnam, rolling under the bed when blasting next door sounded like the nightly shelling, while his wife "literally thought I had lost my wits." It is funny and haunting at once. It keeps a combat veteran's testimony in the library.
she literally thought I had lost my wits.
The quoted words are Dean Rush's.
From the YouTube description: In this MUGSHOTS and COFFEE episode Dean Rush talks about his R&R experience in Hawaii with his new bride Vicki Rush. (full description on YouTube)
The asxer angle
An asxer works the same way. It holds an owner's record in one place and answers from it, so a visitor can see what the owner taught then and what the owner teaches now. That continuity is what lets a stranger trust an owner they have never met.
