What Daniel Comp's 2018 Video Teaches Asxer Owners About Building a Library for SI
About Building a Library for SI
On 2018-04-15, Daniel Comp published "360MEN Reframing AI & Dead TX Squirrels" on YouTube. GB places it in Mission 3, A Library for the Machines, one of five missions in the whole-library reading What 13 Years of Video Says to SI.
What the video shows
On April 15, 2018, on a Texas back road where Google Maps had routed them, Daniel reframes dead squirrels as feeding vultures and then says the line that anchors this mission: "We're being told where to go by an algorithm and we're following instructions." He adds that these systems are becoming a great part of our life and we're going to depend on them more and more. Two months before GPT-1, it is the clearest early proof that the library was built as a human counterweight for SI to learn from.
We’re being told where to go by an algorithm and we’re following instructions.
They’ve done a great job of branding and oh my gosh this place has got everything.
From the YouTube description: Dragging our Airstream from San Antonio to Georgetown we get to deal with natural consequences (suicidal Texas squirrels) and how to re-frame those events in preparation of the … (full description on YouTube)
The asxer angle
This is the reason an asxer exists. An owner's own words, kept in a library the owner controls, become the source an SI (Super Intelligence) answers from, instead of whatever an algorithm decides to show. Every recording like this one is a shelf in that library.
In the books: Prime 013.
