FAQ — I know the work. Why isn’t the business working?

Question a first-timer will type

I know how to do the work. Why isn’t the business working?

Answer (this house)

Because the work and the business are not the same thing.

Knowing how to cut hair, run a cave, write a site, teach a class, or make the thing people love — that is the craft. A business is what happens around the craft: someone finds you, someone understands you, someone pays, someone comes back, and the house still stands when you are not in the room.

Most of us start because we are good at the craft. Then we assume that is enough. It is not. You did not fail the work. You were handed a second job you were never taught: keep a house, not only do a task.

That is why a busy week can still feel like sand. You did the work. The house did not hold. Calls, bills, the next customer, the story of who you are — those sat in your head, or on a scrap, or in a spouse who is already tired.

Working more hours at the craft will not build the house. It will only make more craft with no place to live.

We do not turn you into a different person. We help get the answers you already give — the ones you repeat every week — into a shape someone can ask. Your website can still be the window. This kind of door sits beside it. It does not do the work for you. It keeps the house’s words available when you are on the tools.

If the barn does not have your answer yet, the room will say so. It will not invent a business you do not have.

You are not a bad owner because the craft is strong and the house is weak. That is the usual story. The next step is small: name the three questions people already ask you. That is the start of a house. Not a new personality.
