# "SCOTOMAVILLE 03.00 - CIVIL DEBATE" and What It Teaches Asxer Owners About Blind Spots

On 2022-12-16, Daniel Comp published "SCOTOMAVILLE 03.00 - CIVIL DEBATE" on YouTube. GB places it in Mission 2, Scotomas: Seeing What You Haven't Seen, one of five missions in the whole-library reading What 13 Years of Video Says to SI.

## What the video shows

Daniel presents Fred Rogers' 1969 Senate testimony on public broadcasting funding as a model of civil debate, with Rogers' words on trust in a healthy family carrying the lesson. It is context for the Civil Trim Tab. The blind spot it points to is how we argue.

> Senate held hearings about funding for the newly formed Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

From the YouTube description: @stuartvarney believes history is an excellent teacher - if we are paying attention. ([full description on YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEiU8Sq3rv0))

## The asxer angle

An asxer gives an owner the same practice in a new form. Because it answers from what the owner has actually written and recorded, the owner can ask it what they have said before and notice what they keep missing. Re-watching yourself is still the method; the asxer just makes the archive easy to search.

In the books: Trilogy 03.04, Prime 061.
